This extension to a listed building replaces a more modest lean-to that had been added when the building was saved in 1992. The new work will house a lofty kitchen-dining room that complements the smaller spaces of the original cottage. The fireplace opening has been turned around to face into the new room from what would have been the original outside wall. The bi-fold doors create a link to the outside that works best in the new work, leaving the original character of the cottage intact.
As a second phase we are now designing a loft conversion, carefully defining the alterations to the historic fabric.
